An alignment based Hatha Yoga class that is targeted to wellness at any age. The class is suitable for all levels of students, there is a heavy use of props, and variations taught for most poses, all poses are demonstrated. Each month a wellness theme is inter-weaved throughout the classes. The content of the yoga class is aimed at helping students to develop their own home yoga practice, while learning ways to practice safely and avoid injury by learning poses that are functional, and any contraindications to various health issues. Students will also engage in breath and body awareness while moving through poses. The emphasis of each class is “start from where you are, moving in alignment through each pose safely, connecting with the breath and body, acknowledging any limitations and loving yourself because of that. To see the practice as a yoga practice and not a yoga perfect, and to sprinkle in some fun and laughter along the journey.”
Props required - Yoga mat, 2 blocks, 1 bolster, 2 blankets, sturdy chair (no arms), strap, wall.
Prop substitutes - towel (non slip), lightweight books tied together, pillow(s), 2 ties tied together or bathrobe belt, sturdy card table chair.
Each series is four weeks, and will cover topic’s such as strength, flexibility, balance, and agility. Students will be guided through an alignment based hatha yoga class where they will learn different preparatory poses and pose variations, including any pose contraindications for certain health conditions. This class is suitable for anyone who is interested in aging gracefully and extending their quality of life so they can continue to embrace life and enjoy doing the things they like to do for as long as they can. This is a prop heavy class, where all poses are demonstrated, class is a slower pace than wellness yoga, and is suitable for all levels especially pre-beginners/beginners to intermediate, and certain health conditions.*

Come and bask in the relaxation of restorative yoga, where you’ll be supported by props to help your muscles and mind relax! Students will be guided through a 30-40 minute restorative sequence, including variations of poses to accommodate all levels of ability. At the end of the sequence, students will be lead into a 20-30 minute iRest Yoga Nidra self inquiry based meditation practice. These classes are ideal for kids who are looking for ways to help with posture alignment, or in sport programs and want to learn ways to safely stretch. Kids who are wanting to learn ways to calm their minds and body, or to learn techniques to keep them focused. Classes are taught to age appropriate level and development, and each class helps to empower kids and to listen to their bodies. Please note, this is not a gymnastic style or "pretzel style" yoga class! :)
